GLOWing with Food and Wine on Saturday 9/25

  

 
 

This will be an exciting weekend for DGS, as two huge festivals that we’ve been working on are both held this Saturday, September 25th. The American Wine and Food Festival (AWFF) will start at 6pm on the Universal Studios Backlot. GLOW begins at 7pm and runs until 3am on the Santa Monica Pier, beach and Palisades Park (so you could easily attend both!)

If you’ve never been to AWFF, start saving up your appetite now. The event is an amazing night that brings together the country’s premiere chefs and vintners, all in support of the Meals on Wheels programs of Los Angeles (who are our buds as well). 

This year, there are over 40 top chefs and over 80 vintners. There’s also live music, a Dessert Sanctuary, a Silent Auction and much more. In other words, it’s a fantastic night out! While we’re in the throws of last minute production for Saturday, you may visit the AWFF website to get your tickets and be sure to partake in this fabulous night that benefits a wonderful cause. 

Although it seems like just yesterday that we were announcing that we got the GLOW design job, that festival is already this weekend too! GLOW promises to be an amazing night with over 20 art installations and projects scattered about the Santa Monica Pier, beach and Palisades Park (it just so happens that we designed a very handy map that you can pick up at the event to help you find your way around). 

The installations range from acoustic music performances to the most technologically advanced interactive artworks. Included in the impressive roster of artists is Steve Roden, who you’ll remember from our recent post has a show up at the Pomona College Museum of Art (which we also designed for- we’ve had a busy summer). There is an opening ceremony for GLOW at 7pm at Ocean and Colorado Avenues, so be sure to be there on time and wear comfy walking and art viewing shoes!

Steve Roden Reception This Saturday

 

Hello! We’re exited to announce the opening reception for Steve Roden: when words become forms at the Pomona College Museum of Art on Saturday, September 11th from 4-6pm. 

It seems that Mr. Roden is one of those artists who is just about everywhere these days, as our office finds itself typesetting his name over and over again (he is also in this year’s GLOW and is a past recipient of the California Community Foundation Fellowships for Visual Artists). This time, we created a little golden nugget of a catalog for his exhibition as well as the accompanying ads and banners. After staring at his work on our monitors for months, it will be exciting to see them in person at the show.

Also opening will be Project Series 41: Ginny Bishton. She will be showing two bodies of work, including new large photo-collages and pen and ink drawings. So, between both exhibitions, you’re going to need to get to Pomona on Saturday!

As further proof of Steve Roden’s popularity, he also has a show opening later that night after his Pomona reception at the Pasadena Armory Center for the Arts (Details here). We’re guessing that he may also be found on the 210 westbound at approximately 6:30pm that night eating a burrito while commuting to his next reception.

Summer Glow

 

Hello and Happy Labor Day weekend! The DGS office is bustling this summer- we’re hard at work on this year’s American Wine and Food Festival, new packaging for familiar clients, upcoming exhibits at Pomona College Museum of Art, and much, much more. Today, however, we are compelled to pull ourselves away from our Creative Suite long enough to announce some exciting news. 

We are happy to report that we will be doing all of the printed materials for this year’s GLOW arts festival in Santa Monica!  Those of you have been our friends since 2008 will recall that we were fortunate enough to do the inaugural GLOW festival which drew over 200,000 participants. 

For those of you unfamiliar, GLOW features twenty art installations and interactive works created by a spectacular group of local and international artists. The event is located in Santa Monica on the beach, pier and Palisades Park. It will be held on September 25th from 7pm to 3am and is a free event.

Be sure to save the date, we’ll see you there!
